Care uncovered: an introduction to understanding the care system
You will gain a complete overview of the care system and how it affects children & young people, as well as becoming competent & confident in understanding & using The Children Act. This includes an understanding of the entry routes into the care system, the definitions of ‘in need’ and ‘at risk’ and the assessment processes used by Local Authorities. We will explore the maze that is leaving care legislation and unpick the four categories, young people’s entitlements and relevant case law. You will become confident at interpreting the law and become competent negotiators in this complex area.
