More than words: communicating with children and young people with disabilities

This training is solely focused on communication and allows you the opportunity to explore a range of alternative communication methods and fully understand the implications of using non verbal forms of interaction.

Most importantly you will create unique and innovative ways of ascertaining the wishes and feelings of children and young people and develop clear and professional practice in expressing these to other professionals.

This training is very hands on and a large part of the day is conducted in virtual silence you and your fellow participants explore alternative methods of communicating!

We recommend that this training is completed alongside our 1 day ‘Advocacy with Children and Young People with Disabilities’ which explains the different types of disability, their effects and the legislative framework around disabilities within a children’s rights and equality context.

Excellent, detailed knowledge of disability and approaches and tools to use to help us” Advocate
