Understanding mental health: an advocates guide

In this course you will examine the terminology, definitions, symptoms, roles of professionals and relevant rights attributed to young people experiencing mental health issues. You will explore some of the real challenges faced in the mental health arena and identify strategies that can be employed to successfully engage and empower young people in distress. You will examine The Mental Health Act and give an overview of universal children’s rights within this area.

Who the course is for

This course is a basic introduction to the world of ‘mental health’ specifically designed for those working in and around children’s and young people’s rights and with vulnerable children and young people.

  • Demonstrate sensitive communication in your practice
